The Jackson Prep Career Connection Summer Internship Program, implemented by the Prep Alumni Council and the College Counseling Office, provides juniors with the opportunity for a summer internship experience that will explore and develop specific career interests.  Students will be involved in the day-to-day tasks of a company or professional organization, thereby providing real world experience for making college and career decisions.

Career Connection Selection Process for Students

Career Connection is a competitive experience.  Selection is based on a completed application, resume’, and faculty approval.  A selection committee will match the most qualified candidates with supervisors for each specific internship.  The supervisor may then interview the candidate to determine if he/she is an acceptable match and if so, to set the date for the internship.  An evaluation of the experience will be completed by both the organization and the intern at the end of the program.

  • Student applications and resumes are due Friday, February 26, 2016, at 5 p.m.
  • The application and list of internship opportunities are available by clicking the links on the right.
  • Applicant resumes should be emailed to
  • Selected students will be notified by Monday, March 21, 2016.
  • Selected students and at least one parent will be required to attend a mandatory meeting on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 3:15 p.m. in the Lyceum. Students will be given contact information at this time.
  • An internship is not secured until the selected student interviews with and is approved by the specific site supervisor.  This is the last step in the selection process and will take place April 5-26, 2016.  Students will return a form signed by the employer with the mutually agreed date of the internship to the college counseling office by May 2, 2016.

Students or parents with questions about Career Connection should contact Mrs. Peet in the College Counseling Office.  Organizations with an interest in the program may contact Mrs. Peet or Mrs. Jones in the Alumni Office.

Professional Perspectives Panels

This year, the Alumni Office held Professional Perspectives for current junior students. The program offered juniors an opportunity to visit with panelists in up to four career fields.  The panelists were primarily Jackson Prep alumni.  Photos from the Professional Perspectives panels are shown below.  Alumni or friends of Jackson Prep who are interested in participating on a future panel, please contact Lucia Jones.
